Automatic assembly system for IsoSeed^® probes

In the course of the continued miniaturization it is required mount smaller and smaller single parts automatically to components or end products. An automatic assembly system for radioactive probes developed and constructed by BOS is an example of a precise assembly in the field of miniature components.

BOS had to put together a titanium tube, a ceramic tube and a golden wire to form a probe. Two very precise rotary indexing tables and appropriate feeders carried out the handling processes. An image processing system with several cameras checks geometry and position of the single parts. The whole automatic assembly system is set up in a box protected against radiation. Material loading is possible through locks and intervention through manipulators only. This results in very high requirements regarding the reliability of the automatic system.

The automatic assembly system is the result of many years of experience in handling systems and physical know-how. With this automatic system BOS has furnished evidence of its competence in the field of micro-assembly, too.
