The BioRadar BR 402 has been used for many years to detect and analyze minute mechanical movements – primarily life functions. Meanwhile it has a wireless companion: the BioRadar 502 W. Here the common features and differences at a glance:

The systems work with electromagnetic waves (radar waves) through obstacles. Both work according to the "Transmit and Receive" principle. The signals received are analyzed with a standard PC. The presence of a living being in the ray beam of the antenna can be evidenced already after approx. 30 seconds. The range depends on the antenna shape and the material to be penetrated. It can be up to 8 metres. This would be 20-25 metres in open air.

Applications

  • Search for buried persons (earthquakes, avalanches)
  • Presence of persons in passenger cars (automatic parking garages)
  • Detection of hidden persons in trucks and passenger cars
  • Monitoring movements in subterranean non-metallic channels or cavities.

Ranges: 3-8 m with brick walls, 1 m with concrete, 3-4 m through debris and rubble

Features

BioRadar BR 402

  • Carrying case (PeliCase®) with coupling electronics to PC and 2 battery packs as well as much storage space for radar unit and connection cable
  • Radar unit with antenna and HF electronics
  • 10 m connection cable between radar unit and carrying case
  • Operating and analysis software PC or notebook (not included in scope of delivery)

Because of a cable connection to the operating and control unit the BioRadar BR 402 does not depend on the availability and approval of transmitting frequencies. The radar unit is supplied with power via the cable without the additional weight for batteries.

BioRadar BR 502 W (Wireless)

  • Carrying case (PeliCase®) with coupling electronics to PC and 2 battery packs as well as storage space for radar unit and notebook
  • Radar unit with antenna and HF electronics and a battery compartment
  • Operating and analysis software
  • PC or notebook (not included in scope of delivery)

The radar unit of the BioRadar BR 502 W through its wireless connection has an operating range of up to 100 meters in open air and approx. 30 meters in the terrain. The batteries for the power supply are stored in a small compartment of the radar unit. In place of the connection cable for the BioRadar BR 402 this version can accommodate a notebook of up to 15 inches in the carrying case.
